Going Back to Our Roots

Food used to travel less. Supporting local farms means you can cut the plastic, carbon, and extra waste that comes with nation-wide distribution.

We are inspired by our local milk delivery service. They deliver it fresh, and in glass bottles. Since the late 1700's dairy farmers have been delivering milk to their communities, and in reusable containers. This long standing tradition is what keeps the shelf-life of milk short, and ensures that all consumers can enjoy it fresh. But, when refrigeration replaced the ice box, from the 1960s onward, glass bottles had almost completely been replaced with coated paper cartons or high-density polyethylene. However, today there are concerns as to the quality and safety of industrialized milk. Because of this, the use of glass bottles in local or regional, non-industrial milk distribution has helped start a revival.

We're going back to our roots, supporting sustainable practices like our dairy farmers who had it right all along. How about you?
