Packaging waste is not getting recycled.
In Colorado alone, only 12% of waste is actually getting recycled. On average, each Colorado resident throws away nearly eight pounds of trash per day. That added up to a record 9.3 million tons of waste in 2017. Colorado landfills are reaching capacity on top of 190 landfills that have already closed. And the waste continues to grow.
At Wispy Greens, we are dedicated to delivering our produce in reusable glass and compostable containers to eliminate packaging waste. We hand-wash and sanitize all of our glass containers and we take it upon ourselves to compost all PLA plastic containers with our local industrial compost facility.
